The Role:
An Exciting Opportunity...
Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic, and social makeup. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

Our Services
Brent Children’s Services are good with outstanding features (OFSTED 2018). The Brent Practice Framework is our foundation for practice and includes Signs of Safety. Group supervision is creating a buzz, with social workers developing creativity, sharing risk and learning from each other. We have a stable, steady and committed senior management team who encourage practice conversation and debate.

The borough hosts Wembley Stadium - just a stone’s throw from the office. Working in a state-of-the-art building surrounded by new restaurants, coffee shops and facilities, you’ll definitely enjoy your surroundings. Brent Children and Young People Services boast a bright and buzzy atmosphere where your colleagues are friendly, supportive, and get stuck in. Brent is the 2020 London Borough of Culture(s) where people are proud of their culture and background – and we are proud of our diverse workforce. If you love learning, Brent is the place to further your practice and career.

Services are responding well to the impact of Covid-19 through our excellent IT and the provision of office equipment for all social workers working from home

The Post
You will be the Service Manager leading the Safeguarding and Reviewing Team within the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service. The practitioners in your team will have an enormous amount of professional experience and skills. Your team will understand social work and multi-agency practice. You will provide leadership to your team, gathering this understanding to support and challenge our practice systems.

The Person
You will have extensive social work practice supervision experience at a Team Manager level. You will be a confident social work practice supervisor and will be able to both challenge and support practitioners and managers. You will embrace the Brent Practice Framework and have training and experience in some of our practice approaches - ideally systemic practice including Signs of Safety. You will understand how the team you manage fits into our quality assurance work and actively contribute to our quality assurance systems. You will be passionate about social work and will ensure multi-agency safeguarding practices are consistent and persistent in driving practice improvement.
