Join a pioneering team dedicated to enhancing the lives of Children and Young People with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) in the affluent area of Park Hall, Walsall. A newly established Children's Residential provider is seeking a seasoned Responsible Individual to steer a high-specification home through its formative stages and beyond.

The client, with an impressive background in Health and Social Care, including tenure as a successful Registered Manager, is committed to fostering real change in UK Children's Services. This ethos is complemented by their ongoing charitable work within the local community.

This part-time role is not merely a job but a calling for those with a passion for making a tangible difference in young lives. The appointed individual will be instrumental in laying the robust foundations necessary for the home's success, ensuring the provision of exceptional care and support. The home has been meticulously refurbished to provide a nurturing environment. It is designed to support not only the emotional and behavioural needs of the children but also to recognise and foster their academic and vocational aspirations.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive day rate of up to £450, reflecting the significance and impact of this role. As the Responsible Individual, one will lead the support the Registered Manager ensuring compliance with legislation, delivering high standards of care, and managing placements to create a coordinated approach to services.

Candidates must possess substantial experience in managing care planning practice within children's homes, comprehensive knowledge of the law and practice relating to looked after children, and the business acumen to manage services efficiently. A minimum of two years' experience as a Responsible Individual is essential.

Responsible Individual: Part-time

Day rate: up to £450 per day depending on experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be the Ofsted registered Responsible Individual for the children's home and act on behalf of the organisation to ensure that the home meet relevant requirements set out in legislation
  • To provide effective leadership and management of the home
  • To ensure a high standard of consistent care and service in accordance with legislation, government guidance, regulations and standards, and the policies and procedures of the registered provider
  • To oversee the management of placements within the home and to liaise with managers in formulating jointly agreed plans to ensure a coordinated approach to services for children and young people

Skills and Experiences:

  • Substantial experience of managing care planning practice in children's homes; identifying, assessing, planning, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating outcomes
  • Extensive knowledge of law and practice relating to looked after children
  • Have the business and management skills to supervise the management of the service efficiently and effectively
  • Must have previous experience as a Responsible Individual
